The international agenda of President Javier Milei and his Foreign Minister Diana Mondino is marked by the serious local crisis. Beyond the pro-Western and pro-Israel turn that they intend to give to their foreign policy, pragmatism must continue to mark their decisions. Along these lines, Milei is preparing a trip to Switzerland for mid-January. As she had announced in the electoral campaign, she will attend the Davos Economic Forum, accompanied by Chancellor Diana Mondino and the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo. This edition of the Forum will be from January 15 to 19. For his part, Mondino will travel next week to Europe. It will be her first departure from the country as a minister.
The trip is being prepared, but in principle it would Europe Mobile Number List fly to Paris, where the chancellor will lead Argentina's talks to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). There is its headquarters. According to this newspaper, Mondino and his Secretary of International Economic Relations, Marcelo Cima, prepared a letter addressed to the Secretary General of the OECD, Mathias Cormann, with the request for Argentina to join it. The government of Alberto Fernández did not respond positively to the invitations made by the OECD to Argentina in to begin an access process, as the government of Mauricio Macri had requested. Entering this group of 38 emerging and developed economies is not easy. And Kirchnerism's decision greatly delays the process that must now be restarted.
Mondino's trip could extend not only to the OECD authorities, but also to the first contacts with the government of Emmanuel Macron to convey to them the Argentine intention to reactivate the Mercosur - European Union agreement. Both Fernández and Macron raised the last objections that caused him to fall again. This prevented the signing of a document as expected for the Rio de Janeiro summit on December 7. By the way, the new Government has given signs that it seeks to establish free trade agreements and activate those that had been opened with Mercosur, from which Milei now does not want to leave contrary to what he stated during the campaign. The new businesses are headed, in principle, to Europe and Singapore.
